Welcome to Sociology 2018-2019

Welcome to Sociology Class!
I am looking forward to where this class will take us this semester.

So what is sociology? This semester we will be studying people.

More specifically and according to the American Sociological Association we are studying:
1) The study of social lives of people, groups, and societies.
2) The study of our behavior as social beings, covering everything from the analysis of short contacts between anonymous individuals on the street to the study of global social processes
3) The scientific study of social aggregations, the entities through which humans move throughout their lives

I love this field of study and am excited to introduce it to you this semester. Today we are more globally connected than ever before and I think it's so important to understand what culture is and how it impacts individuals and societies.
