Components of Culture
SOC 2.1 Identify and Explain the components of culture and their impact.
In this component you will be asked to take a look at the culture surrounding you and then how you have been impacted by this culture.
Components of culture include:
Values - Untouchable - Ideas that are important such as honesty or freedom
Norms - Behaviors that are expected and protect your values. For example tell the truth.
Symbols - Anything that represents something else. For example the interlocking BB for BBCHS
Language - System of symbols to communicate. This can be times of language and terms.
Material Culture - Anything touchable from smart phones to the clothes you wear.
