Sociology 2.2 Sanctions
In ever society it is expected that norms will be taught. This is done through the use of sanctions.
Since the day you were born you've been receiving sanctions from those around you. When you are younger your sanctions are positive or negatively informal. Meaning that they are sanctions that anyone can give you. A reward to encourage a behavior like sharing. Or a punishment to discourage a behavior like pushing. As you grow older these informal sanctions will continue but you will also have the possibility of positive and negative informal sanctions. These can only be given by certain people and have a set of guidelines in order to give these sanctions. An example could be a positive formal sanction like the Nobel Peace Prize or a negative formal sanction like a ticket for speeding.
